Stuffed bulbous and warped forms reflect body parts, they are bound with rope on top of an engraved dark looming comb, speaking on the pressure to control the natural form and rhythms of the human vessel. The hair comb embodies myths and rituals of how people mould and tame what grows from their skin whether conforming or creating one's own ideals. MBS means mind, body and soul. Detangling The MBS is a call to serviceoneself, to create a flow of healthy self reflection which may enact change. Detangling The MBS speaks of action, a constant action to become a version of yourself that can recognise the myriad of life’s offerings and self-worth. interdisciplinary exhibition from my residency alongside performance artist Flavia Bertram, guiding a group of young teen girls to explore what it means to be a creative female and self acceptance in today’s society. They each identified their superpower and their works in progress to spring board ideas on what they can make which represents them for their own coming of age ceremony.&nbsp;We facilitated a space for the girls to turn their ideas about themselves into objects such as masks, garments and props.&nbsp;These artworks were created over two weeks drawing on play and conversation. We all collaborated on creatinga private ceremony held in Mosely Baths for friends and family.
